Duncan’s Pinball and Arcade Party
With the basement flood came plenty of disappointment. The greatest for the boys was not the lack of play space, but having to cancel Duncan’s 7th birthday party. You see, Duncan had been planning for months to invite his friends and introduce them to old school pinball and arcade games. When the restoration company packed up for the final time, Duncan helped create his invitation… With the date set, we hustled to get everything in order. No small feat when pinball machines...

A couple people asked me about the “Hike for Hospice 5K” mentioned on my 2013 Race Calendar. Easiest way to explain is by sharing my blog entry for The Hub and Hub Hospice websites. Please note the Hike for Hospice is not a running race, but a family friendly hike in support of the Hub Hospice. All funds raised go right into our local hospice programming! On Day One, we carried in 68 boxes, and placed the majority in our living room. We established our starting line, and started...

Since I am so very proud of all the Hub endeavours to accomplish, along with loving my guys to pieces, I share with you the article! Pierce Bird, four, wearing clothing from The Hub in Almonte. In the Fall of 2010, Thanksgiving changed. I realized the days of turkey and tofurkey, the trimmings, and pumpkin pie were going to be replaced by a birthday celebration. Four years later, we eat pizzas with toppings chosen by the birthday boy. As the family chows down, I study Pierce across the table. I realize he has grown taller in the past few months, and his hair colour is starting to darken. School, while rough at first due to severe nightmares, has become a blessing. He turns...
